Ansonia Umbria Gingerbread Clock, 1882 The Ansonia Clock Company was one of the major 19th century American clock manufacturers. It produced millions of clocks in the period between 1850, its year of incorporation, & 1929, the year the company went into receivership & sold its remaining assets to Soviet Russia. The Umbria model is quite a rare one. There is finely painted glass on the door & carved wood around the rim. The clock strikes on a coiled gong on the hour & half hour with a bell alarm.
